Alberta Avenue: A Glimpse into its History and Development

Established during the First World War, Alberta Avenue is one of Edmonton’s oldest communities. Its boundaries form a rectangle, with 111 Avenue and 97 Street serving as the southern and western borders, 122 Avenue as the northern border, and 89 Street as the eastern border.

In 2015, community newsletter Rat Creek Press ranked Alberta Avenue as the second-best area in Edmonton for property investment. The community continues to thrive, with the Alberta Avenue Community League and Arts on the Ave hosting year-round events and festivals.

Known for its concentration on the arts, Alberta Avenue is fast becoming one of Edmonton's cultural hotspots. The artistic community is thriving, thanks to major contributors like Theatre Prospero, Nina Haggerty Centre, and The Studio.

Alberta Avenue is conveniently located near educational institutions like NAIT and CLI College, as well as the Royal Alexandra Hospital. The community also offers a beautiful walking trail in Alberta Avenue Park, with the community centre at the south end of the park.

Getting around is easy, thanks to the Kingsway transit centre and the NAIT LRT line. For private flights, the municipal airport is just a few blocks away.
